I went to collect chestnuts with my son yesterday.
昨日、息子と栗拾いをしてきました。
Many of our neighbors have chestnut trees. One of them told our son that he can have all the chestnuts he can find under the neighbor’s tree.
ご近所に栗の木があるお宅がたくさんあります。ご近所のおじいちゃんがうちの息子に「好きなだけ拾ってええで」と言ってくださったので、毎年栗拾いをさせていただいています。

Use your feet to open the chestnut burr.
足を使って開けます。（裸足でないだけいいけれど、サンダルも不適切ですね。笑
We went to the garden for a little bit and picked hot peppers and eggplants. We got the figs from our neighbor. (Many of our neighbors also have fig trees but they don’t pick and eat very much. Most of our neighbors are in their 80s and 90s.)
畑に行って、唐辛子とナスも収穫してきました。イチジクはご近所さんからいただいたもの。（イチジクの木があるお宅も多いけれど、取って食べている人はほとんどいないのです。みなさん80代や90代と高齢ですし）
